WE ARE JUST A GROUP OF ORDINARY PEOPLE.
Providing food, clothing, and assistance to the homeless, street-involved youth, seniors, new immigrants, domestic abuse victims, single mothers, and individual/families in need and/or living in poverty
Your donations help fund and support our year-round work with homeless people. We respect our donors and volunteers and recognize that each and every one of our supporters is at the heart of CommunityOutreachYEG—we simply could not do the work we do without you.
The inception of CommunityOutreachYEG was started many years ago by Melody and Floyd House from their home. Floyd and Mel would often see the homeless community in the city, and it broke their hearts to see those who found themselves living on the streets. They made a commitment to each other that they were going to do whatever it takes to improve the lives of those who are homeless.
Over the years they have gradually gathered a trusted group of volunteers that want to make a real difference to their community and are willing to finance, work and hand out food and care packages at sometimes -35 degree weather conditions to support those in need!
They provide a healthy meal which they organize outside Hope City, downtown Edmonton to feed the homeless. Melody and Floyd rely on volunteers and support from the community and local businesses to donate in any way they can. From financial assistance to food, blankets, gloves, clothing, jackets, toques and gloves to get through the winters.
In their own words “We want to make a real difference in peoples lives, right now, providing essential needs to the less fortunate community. We are committed to providing accessible, inclusive, and culturally competent services to diverse communities”.
We want to assist people in the Greater Edmonton Area who are struggling to meet their essential needs. We focus our energies on the poor, homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless, by filling the gaps left by other programs and organizations. We do this by addressing their unmet essential needs of food, clothing, shelter and assisting them in accessing available services.
There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.
FEEDING
Our feeding program is designed with the understanding that before positive change can happen, we must meet the basic needs of the community.
CLOTHING
The Clothing Program offers cost-free and much-needed help to families and or individuals living in poverty or close to poverty line. It is especially needed during the cold winter months.
FURNITURE
We gratefully accept donations of furniture that is gently we can provide to those in need. From small household appliances to housewares such as towels, linens, plates, and cookware.
ADDITIONAL
We are connected with a vast network of organizations in the Greater Edmonton area that offer services such as counseling, programs, or housing services.
